Imphal, August 07, 2013:
While many well known persons engaged in siphoning off crores of rupees from the public fund are let scot free, a petty thief stealing a cycle is often found rounded up by people and beaten up to death.
This is the present trend in Manipur and if it continues, then the fate of the State is uncertain, exclaimed MLA Y Erabot.
He was speaking on the occasion of a workshop cum mass enrollment and re-constitute function held at his Khurai Ahongei residence today.
The event was organisded by Wangkhei Mahila Block Congress Committee.
MLA Erabot further pointed out that the owner of the drugs seized from Imphal Airport has not been disclosed by the State Government and is still running loose.
On the other hand, the police officer who seized the drugs from the Airport got transferred for his good work.
This attitude of the State Government has brought about a change for the worst in the State.
The discipline and respect we use to see earlier has all disappeared.
He went on to say that the issue of drugs in the State has also led to the increase of HIV & AIDS cases in the State.
The time has come for the Congress Mahila to take up active role in prevention of drug trafficking in the State.
We all need to come together and save the State from further destruction.
On the occasion, new office bearers of the newly reconstituted Wangkhei Block Mahila Committee were also appointed with Thangjam Memi as its President.
