Sub-Jr Natl Judo C'ship kicks off: Tababi opens account for Manipur

Along with paying tribute to the late first Indian Olympian judoka L Brojeshori, the 2013 National Sub-Junior Judo
Championship commenced from today at Khuman Lampa Indoor Stadium here.
The championship, which would continue till 10th of this month, is being organized
by Manipur Judo Association (MJA) under the auspices of Judo Federation of India (JFI).
Dignitaries such as Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Dr Kh
Ratankumar, Minister of Works and President of Manipur Judo Association; M Prithviraj, Parliamentary Secretary of Sports & Tourism; RK Nimai Singh,
Commissioner, YAS and Bijoy Koijam, President of Manipur Olympic Association, etc who were present during the inaugural function of the championship joined
the rest of the participants and officials observing a one-minute silence as mark of respect to the departed judoka at the outset of the event.

As many as 800 judokas from 22 states are expected to battle for glory during the 3-day long championship.
On the first day today, Th Tababi of Manipur opened the first account of the state with a gold medal in the U-12 Girls 30+ Kg category.
H Purnima and Thoiba of Manipur also collected a gold medal each for the state in the U-15 Girls 48+ Kg and U-15 Boys 55+ Kg categories.
Solankin Jatim of New Delhi bagged the gold, while FC Jokhim of Mizoram claimed silver medal in the 25thKG category.
Prince of Haryana and H Vikram of Manipur shared the third place.
The gold of +35 Kg went to Dhaoarkar Aditya of Maharashtra and the silver to Rahul Sevia of Rajasthan.
Ankit Panwar of Uttarakhand and Abung Singh of Manipur jointly claimed bronze.
Unati Sharma of Uttarakhand (U-12 Girls 20Kg), Jonishan (U-12 Girls 30 Kg) of Mizoram; Puja (U-15 Girls - 48 Kg); Nitin (U-15 Boys 55Kg+) and Akhilender (-35Kg) of Haryana won a gold medal each.
