'Monitor acid sale'

Citizens Club, Soibam Leikai, has appealed to the State Government to take up stringent monitoring policy regarding the sale and purchase of acid in the State .
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, the secretary of the club, S Banabir said that on November 29, a 39 year old woman from Wangkhei Khunou was the victim of an acid attack and added that there is a critical need for stringent measures and monitoring policy in connection with the sale and purchase of acid in the State .
He also urged the State Government to take up necessary legal actions against the accused, Md Sahdat alias Tomba (23) s/o (L) Md Azad Ali of Hatta Ita Kholla .
Banabir pointed out that the unfortunate victim is still undergoing treatment at RIMS and appealed to the authority concerned to provide necessary financial assistance as well.
He further stated that the locals have decided to banish Md Tomba and his family from the locality but the club is making necessary arrangements to make sure the accused pay for the treatment expenses of the victim woman .
It may be mentioned that the accused reportedly splashed acid on the victim near her house when she came back from her hotel on a two wheeler vehicle.
Sources claim that the accused, Tomba, had also come to the hotel prior to the incident.
