Human rights council for minorities formed

With regard to the formation of a human rights council for minorities in the State, a meeting was held today at the residence of Associate Professor Dr Md Ashraf Ali at Minuthong Golapati near the community hall under the chairmanship of retired senior advocate, High Court of Manipur, Md Jalaluddin .
After having a minute discussion, the members present at the meeting unanimously resolved to form a council christened "All Manipur Minorities Human Rights Council" with immediate effect .
The meeting also elected office bearers and executive committee of the council .
They are Md Jalaluddin (chairperson); Dr Md Salamat Ullah, Addl Director, MHS (vice-chairperson); Associate Prof Syed Wahidur Rahaman (vice-chairperson); Anwari Noorjahan (vice-chairperson); advocate Md Rabi Khan (secretary); Associate Prof Dr Md Ashraf Ali (joint secretary); Dr Farida, Member, Manipur State Women Commission (joint secretary); Controller, Manipur University Md Anishul Alam (joint secretary); executive members Mufti Md Safiullah; Md Hashimuddin; Md Sirajuddin Khan and MA Wahid .
The elected office bearers and executive members have resolved to execute the welfare and protection of rights of the minority communities in the State with immediate effect.
