Imphal, February 22 2013:
In protest against the failure of the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BSEM) to issue examination forms for HSLC, 2013 to about 718 students belonging to five schools in Chandel district, Naga Students' Union Chandel has announced its decision to impose an Indefinite Chandel District Bandh starting from 5 pm tomorrow.
Announcing this during a press conference at its office, President of NSUC Sunny Sankhil alleged that BSEM has collected enrolment fee from about 6900 students in 2012 but the Board suddenly refused to issue application forms to the students, thereby putting their academic career in peril.
The attitude and treatment of the Board towards the students is in violation of human Rights and Rights to Education (RTE) Act.
"This year 2013, only 1626 candidates were allowed on the parameter that the list of students 2011 and 2012 will be compared and common students will be allowed to write the examination of 2013.But most of the students specially from the five schools have again not been allowed to appear in the ensuing exam as the list of 2011 has been manipulated and replaced", he added.
Dilbung William Lamkang, President of Lamkang Students' Union and Ps.
Monihring, President of Anal Students' Union were also present during the press conference.
