Ukhrul, February 22 2013:
Three Tangkhul zonal organisations have on Friday urged upon the public to vouch support to Ukhrul Deputy Commissioner and called for an end to unscrupulous attack meted out to the civil servants.
A statement jointly signed by chairmen of the three zonal organisations namely Aze Longphang, Zingsho Longphang and and Zingtun Longphang pointed out that there have been so many IAS and MCS officers serving as DC in Ukhrul over the years, but none has rendered service like the incumbent in bringing development in the district.
The organisations mentioned that the present DC has undertaken situational analysis of every village by a process of Participatory Rural Appraisal and development profile of each village is uploaded on website and made the system transparent.
Further, the statement observed that a Composite Inspection Team has also been formed involving both government officials and non-governmental organizations to monitor development works in the district.
The statement also emphasized that public distribution system has improved and irregularities in service deliveries under the various National flagship programs monitored.
"In doing all these he has exposed himself to threats from unscrupulous elements in society and may have displeased our politicians.
We condemn those who threaten him and demand his transfer for his action of siding with the rural poor," it asserted.
The organisations appealed that "the DC deserves recognition of both the public and state authority for the incredible job he is doing for improving governance in the district" .
