AR seizes 60 kgs of drugs

Imphal, February 22 2013:
Nearly 60 kgs of banned pseudo-ephedrine hydrochloride tablets have been recovered by troops of 9 assam rifles of 26 Sector from different locations of moreh border town in the last 48 hours.
According to information received here, the AR troops acting on specific information about smuggling of banned drugs at thangbung minou area, chandel district, launched search operation and spotted some persons moving towards the international border, which is about 2 km from Thangbung Minou.
at around 3 pm the search party noticed movement of unidentified individuals carrying packed consignments but the persons managed to escape into the thick jungles of Myanmar territory leaving the consignment behind the indo- Myanmar border, detailed a source adding that on thorough checking of the consign- ments the banned Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride tablets weighing about 28 kg were found.

Putting likely cost of the recovered drugs at about Rs 15 lakhs, the source conveyed that same is being handed over to office of the NCB, Imphal for further investigation.
The second recovery of drugs, according to our Moreh Correspondent, was made by a team of the same AR unit at around 4.15 pm today from Ward No 2 Dalpati Leikai, which is also close to the international border.
The recovery include about 28 kgs of pseudoephedrine hydrochloride tablets.
The smugglers in the second case also managed to evade arrest.
