Imphal-Moreh road inspected ahead of BCIM Car rally

Ahead of the BCIM Car rally, 2013, which is scheduled to reach Imphal on February 26, Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar made an inspection visit of Imphal-Moreh road (NH-2) along with officials of Highway, Transport and PWD.
The Ministerial team started off its inspection visit early morning yesterday and took stock of the condition of the road.
The team witnessed an overall satisfaction in the repairing works done all along exception to the road stretch in Lokchao area covering a distance of 30 kms from Imphal side.
However, all the potholes which were there earlier have been filled up, to which the Minister expressed his delight.

Speaking to mediapersons on the sidelines of the inspection, Minister Ratankumar informed that an amount of Rs 3 crores has been sanctioned under the Central Road Fund (CRF) for mending Moreh ring road.
Another Rs 11.25 crores has been sanctioned for repairing the road from Tadubi to Pfutsero covering a distance of 7.50 kms; Rs 136.50 crores for the 91-km long stretch from Tuisem to Haflong; Rs 200.65 crores for the 61-km long Kangchup to Tamenglong road and Rs 78 crores for the Moreh ring road.
The repairing would be done under NEC and it would be started very soon.
The Minisetr further informed that a Rs 1.2 crores project for construction of road from Machi to NH-2 has been approved, apart from Rs 50 lakhs for construction and repairing of the ring road from Komlathabi to Moreh is also in the process under the Finance Commission.
MLA DK Korungthang of Tengnoupal A/C, who was also present during the inspection visit, appealed to all the concerned to maintain quality in taking up the construction process.
The visiting team returned to Imphal this afternoon.
