Imphal, January 22 2019:
The Namthanpung Women Society and Namthanpung Youth Club, on behalf of the local people, have appealed to the authority concerned to resume and complete the pending river bank embankment work at the eastern side of Kangla fort along Namthanpung village (near officer quarter, Sanjenthong), before the onset of monsoon.
A press release issued by president of Namthanpung Youth Club stated that, the said river bank was breached owing to the negligence and failure of the authority concerned while a large portion of Imphal East was affected including the VIP quarters and brought immense grievances to the people, during heavy rainfall in July, last year.
It maintained that even though the Chief Minister along with other officials concerned inspected the spot and witnessed the deluge, no positive actions have been taken up till date.
It expressed the apprehension of facing the same faith this year as before if the authority concerned continue to turn a blind eye on the matter.
