PMAY-U fund releasing process followed transparency, claims LMC Councillor

Claiming that the process of releasing fund, meant for construction of houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana/Housing For All (Urban) PMAY-U for 592 beneficiaries under Lamlai Municipal Council (LMC) jurisdiction, was carried out in a very transparent manner by following every norms/procedure, LMC ward 9 Councillor Irom Rojen has appealed to all the people under LMC to come and verify the details of the scheme, if they have any doubt or suspicion regarding the matter.
Addressing a press meet held at Lamlai Municipal Council office in Lamlai today, ward number 9 Councillor Irom Rojen claimed that the final list of 592 beneficiaries was published in the local daily, AIR, MUDRA website and informed using loud speakers as well, following the approval of the names in the list.
He said that the total amount of Central assistance is Rs 1.5 lakh for each beneficiary and the funds are released in three instalments, ie, foundation stage (Rs 60,000), lintel stage (Rs 60,000) and completion stage (Rs 30,000) .
Explaining that the surveyor (LMC staff) geo-tagged the houses concerned while claiming funds from Town Planning Department and before disbursing assistance to the deserving beneficiaries, the Councillor further maintained that the Town Planning Department cross checked the list of beneficiaries with the required documents to ensure that the PMAY-U guidelines are fulfilled.
The Town Planning Department then released the assistance amount for the housing scheme through PFMS (Direct Benefit Transfer) to the beneficiaries' account, he narrated.
He asserted that there is no room for fraudulent cash transaction by Councillors and Executive Officer while informing that few people have misled the people, regarding the housing scheme, due to their vested interests.
He added that the Central Government has released funds only for the first phase (Rs 60,000) till present.
