CM to discuss 'Supra State' with PM, HM

The issue evolving out of the creation of a "Supra State Body" as offered by the Union government as Christmas gift to the Nagas which came out in the Guwahati based Seven Sister's Post was minutely discussed at the state cabinet meeting held today.
Addressing media persons after the cabinet meeting, spokesperson of SPF government, Minister N Biren said that Chief Minister will be leaving for Delhi to check the credibility of the news which came out in the Seven Sister' Post and to discuss the matter with the Prime Minister, Home Minister and Chairperson of UPA.
During his visit, the tentative time for the inauguration of Capitol Project, High Court Complex, Inter State Bus Service and the City Convention will also be fixed, he said.
The Minister further said that the cabinet has also taken the decision to persuade the PM to announce a huge package amounting to about 5000 to 6000 crores for the state during his visit.
The cabinet meeting also decided to upgrade Jiriban sub division almost to a district, even if it cannot be converted into the status of a full fledged district at the moment.
All legal powers of a Deputy Commissioner of a district have been conferred to the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Jiribam.
Apart from this the Additional Superintendent of Police has been assigned all the legal powers of a Superintendent of Police.
Minister Biren further said that, the cabinet meeting has also approved for the upgradation of the Police outpost at Gularthol into a Police station.
It also approved for the posting four SI, four ASI, 34 constables and a driver in the police station.
The cabinet meeting also further decided to establish government departments including Transport, IFCD, DIPR and Minor Irrigation.
Apart from this it was also decided to improve the condition of Jiribam jail.
The cabinet also decided to upgrade the SDC office into that of SDO office.
The Khengjoi Primary Health Sub Centre has also been decided to be upgraded into a Primary Health Centre and the Khengjoi Primary School into a High school, he said.
He further said that the cabinet has further decided to provide a suitable environment for the establishment of a Lokayukta in the state.
It also approved for the formation of Maintenance of Parents and Senior citizens Rule in the state.
The MOBC has also been decided to be upgraded into a Directorate.
It was previously under a Additional Director.
It has also been further decided to create a post of a Project Officer and an Assistant Engineer in the, to be department.
The salary of the Chairman of the Manipur State Minority Commission has been fixed at Rs 30,000 and that of the members at Rs 20,000.An additional three lecturers in DM College of Science, Commerce and Churachandpur College has also been approved by the cabinet, he said.
The Cabinet further approved for the establishment of State Commission for Protection of Child Rights.
It also decided to look into the complaints of the general public on the unavailability of petroleum products in the state and also to find out the reason behind the unavailability.
The compensation of the 10 burnt down trucks during blockade has also been decided to be paid out, he further said.
