Tamenglong, October 16 2014:
The Zeliangrong Baudi Manipur expressed strong exception to the failure of the government to implement Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vikaj Yojana Scheme with code named Turkey project to renovate the power houses, transformers and install GI electric post throughout Tamenglong district.
The Zeliangrong Baudi demands the authorities concerned to take up necessary punitive action against the contractors and officials involved in the scam under the law of the land within November 30, failing which the Zeliangrong Baudi Manipur warns to take the help of law court to deliver justice to the people of the dist.
In a press statement issued by Thomas Kamei, President Zeliangrong Baudi Manipur stated that a sum of Rs.18 cr.
was sanctioned by the Government of India in the year 2008 to renovate the power houses, transformers and install GI electric post throughout Tamenglong district.
However, not even a single new GI post being erected in the district.
Where are all those sanctioned money gone, the statement questioned and stated that another 23 cr.
is in the pipe line for the second phase.
Further the statement stated that it is also learnt that the said contract was awarded to a company called UTKAL Gulvanaiser Pvt.
Ltd.
based in Bhubanesor, Odisha.
Why the department concerned and the state government of Manipur remain mute spectators over the scam and irregularity? The statement also questioned why Tamenglong district was kept black out for six months while Manipur Sate Distribution Corporation Limited (MSPDCL) was responsible for erection of new GI posts, whereas Manipur state Power transmission Corporation Limited was responsible for power supply in the district.
