ECI on electoral identity

Imphal, January 14, 2012:
Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed all the electors in each of the 60 Assembly Constituencies in Manipur to produce their EPIC for establishing identity before casting votes on the day of polling on January 28. ECI issued an order in this regard yesterday, Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur PC Lawmkunga informed in a statement made available to the press.
According to the statement, for electors who do not have EPIC they may produce alternative documents for establishing their identity.
The alternative documents include Passport; Driving License; Income Tax Identity (PAN) card; Service Identity Cards having photographs issued to its employees by state/centrel government, public sector undertakings, local bodies or Public Limited Companies; Passbook with photograph issued by Public Sector Banks/Post Office and Kisan Passbooks (accounts opened on or before 31:12:2011); SC/ST/OBC certificates issued by competent authority with photograph issued on or before 31:12:2011; Pension documents such as ex-servicemen's Pension Book/Pension Payment Order, ex-servicemen's widow/dependent certificates, Old Age Pension Order, Widow Pension Order with photograph issued on or before 31:12:2011; Freedom Fighter Identity Card with photograph; Arms Licenses with photograph issued on or before 31:12:2011; Certificate of Physical handicap with photograph issued by the competent authority on or before 31:12:2011; Health Insurance Scheme Smart Card with photograph ( Ministry of Labour's Scheme) issued up to 31:12:2011; Property Documents with Photograph such as Pattas, Registered Deeds, etc; Job cards with photograph under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme issued on or before 31:12:2011 and authenticated 'Photo Voter Slip' issued by Election Machinery.
