AR organises community service & security meet

Units of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organised a community service and security meet with an aim to interact with the locals and sensitise them in regard to the existing security situation in the area.
The community service was organised by Yangangpokpi COB of Mantripukhri Battalion at Ramrei Village Baptist Church, Ukhrul district today, sad a press release issued by PRO, IGAR.
The interaction was aimed to familiarise and orient troops of the Company Operating Base (COB) with the locals as well as identify with their local customs and traditions.
The event commenced with offering of prayers followed by an interaction with the villagers.
The interaction proved to be of immense significance as over 105 villagers willingly shared various issues and their concerns, it added.
Likewise, Lilong Company Operating Base (COB) of Keithelmanbi Battalion updated the locals on the current situation existing in the area of responsibility.
An interaction session was also carried out on necessary measures required to be undertaken for maintaining a strict vigil against illicit activities in the area, future action plan in respect of Civic Action Projects.
The attendees were also sensitised regarding the ill effects of drugs among the youth and to guide them to lead a healthy and prosperous life and to help create a drug free environment.
The security forum was attended by the ward Councillors, Pradhans, youth Club members and representatives.
The locals expressed their gratitude and appreciated the efforts of Assam Rifles for conducting such security meeting and ensuring peace in the area and assured their commitment and assistance in maintaining the same, added the statement.
