TPR rises; state sees 677 new cases, 9 deaths

Imphal, August 12 2021:
After registering the lowest positivity rate since July 1 on Wednesday, the daily positivity rate picked up on Thursday as government bulletins reported nine death cases and 677 new positive cases out of 4676 samples tested, thus registering a positivity rate of 14.48 per cent against 12.23 per cent recorded on Wednesday.
The active caseload has come down to 6835 out of which 2608 (38.16 per cent) are in home isolation, 2049 (29.98 per cent) in CHICs, 1286 (18.81 per cent) in CCCs and 892 (13.05 per cent) in hospitals.
Among the hospitalised patients, 132 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 368 are on oxygen support and 76 on ventilator support.
At the same time, 49 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.
As of Thursday evening, 2266 beds are available in different CCCs and 224 beds including 72 ICU/HDU beds in different hospitals.
There is no updated information on district hospitals and CHCs.
However, as of Wednesday evening, 256 beds (15 ICU/HDU) were available in district hospitals and CHCs.
So far, the state has recorded 77,307 positive cases and 1309 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month saw an addition of 8208 new cases and 127 fatalities out of which 4560 new cases and 69 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, the 677 new cases included 672 people (319 male & 353 female) from among the general population and five personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) .
Their samples were tested at RIMS (70), JNIMS (25), District-Hospitals (436) and other testing centres (146).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (152), Imphal West (283), Thoubal (47), Bishnupur (52), Kakching (15), Ukhrul (16), Churachandpur (49), Chandel (4), Senapati (12), Tamenglong (11), Tengnoupal (1), Jiribam (3), Noney (1) and Kangpokpi (26).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 9 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours but no age and gender information have been disclosed by the committee.
The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (1), Imphal East (1), Thoubal (2), Bishnupur (2), Ukhrul (1), Kangpokpi (1) and Churachandpur (1).The cumulative number of deaths is 1683.Out of the 9 victims, three did not have any co-morbid conditions and four of them had received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
In the last 24 hours, 690 patients were discharged from home isolation (261), RIMS (7), JNIMS (15), CCCs (209) and CHICs (l98).The cumulative number of positive cases is 1,06,707 (general population - 1,02,641 and CAPF personnel - 4,066).Number of recovered cases is 98,189 (general population - 94,192 and CAPF personnel - 3,997) and number of active cases is 6,835 (general population - 6,771 and CAPF personnel - 64).The recovery rate is 92.01 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 1622 D-type and 315 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
Vaccination progress is still slow as only 10,082 vaccine doses were administered on Wednesday and the cumulative number of vaccinated people has reached 11,61,304.However, number of people who have got both doses of vaccine is only 2,63,658 though there are 3,18,586 people eligible to get the second shot.
Meanwhile, 15 new positive cases were detected out of 121 samples tested from Wednesday 2 pm to Thursday 2 pm in Kakching district.
One case was detected at Ema Hospital, another one at Jivan Hospital and 13 at government RAT sites.
One of them is from Chandel district while the remaining are residents of Kakching district, according to report from DSO Kakching.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (35,897), Imphal East (23,884), Thoubal (8781), Churachandpur (9091), Kangpokpi (2501), Tamenglong (2917), Bishnupur (8052), Senapati (1948), Ukhrul (1913), Kakching (5862), Chandel (2081), Noney (932), Tengnoupal (999), Jiribam (973), Kamjong (606) and Pherzawl (270) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (565), Imphal East (399), Thoubal (153), Churachandpur (145), Kangpokpi (54), Tamenglong (12), Bishnupur (165), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (22), Kakching (103), Chandel (31), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (12), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4) and Pherzawl (0) .
However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs and DSOs of some districts.
The state health authority is not willing to provide district-specific case status despite repeated request from media.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 34,388 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 22,994 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 3,69,385 tests per million population against the national average of 3,49,357 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.58 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, 4676 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 14.48 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 9.31 per cent.
