Animation video album on Puya Mei Thaba launched

An animation video album on the incidents of Puya Mei Thaba was launched on the concluding day of the four-day long conference on public opinion and response on the incident of burning Puyas which was held at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound today.
The animation video album on Puya Mei Thaba was launched by Prof N Joykumar.
A two-minute part of the seven-minute long video album has been completed today and was shown to the people.
The music of the album has been composed by Guru Rewben Mashangva and singer Uttam.
A song sung by Uttam with lyrics by late Chingsubam Akaba forms the background music.
Uttam conceptualized and also directed the animated video album.
The animation of the album and editing has been done by Th Robindro of Tera TongbramLeikai, S Nongpokhanba of Uripok Achom Leikai and Vicky Maibam of Khundrakpam Mayai Leikai.
The reference of the animated video album has been given by Mutuwa Bahadur, Dr Waikhom Romesh and M Shivadutta Luwang.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof N Joykumar said that starting from the Seven Years Devastation to the integration of Manipur in the Indian Union, including the incidents of consigning the Puyas to flames, almost all the events whichever have been propagated to the people of the state tell the story of the defeat of the Manipuris and nothing else.
If we desire to know our own identity, it is very much necessary to understand our past cultures and traditions and our forefathers.
Shantidas Gosai felt it necessary to abolish all the old books related with the Manipuris for the Hindu religion to take roots in Manipur, so he let the King to burn down the Puyas of Manipur.
We need to ponder and discuss as to why the then King Pamheiba took the decision to burn all the Puyas and also need to understand the mentality and attitudes of the people of that time.
He further said that in trying to bring out the real facts about the history of Manipur there is always a clash between myth and history.
Whenever problems regarding the exact documents arise, history tends to become a myth.
A Mobi, President, AMWJU, speaking as the Guest of Honour, asserted that to develop the Manipuri language, there is the need to bring out a policy.
If the students taking Manipuri as a subject in their higher studies are given special marks, the other students who are opting alternative English will shift their attention towards Manipuri language.
Salam Bharat Bhushan who was also present on the occasion as presidium member said that it is our duty to preserve and safeguard the properties which are gifted to us by our forefathers.
Hueiyen Lanpao Daily was the first vernacular newspaper in the state to include a column of Meetei Mayek script.
This newspaper which is more than 30 years old has been trying its level best to preserve and promote our own script.
Likewise we all should work to protect, preserve and promote our language and script.
The function was presided by Saikhom Nodiya, Vice Chairman, ICOP.
The evening session of the function was moderated by Sairem Nilbir.
Dr H Indrakumar, HoD, Political Science department, Modern College and Dr TB, lecturer, Oriental College were the resource persons.
