State Police intensify security measures ahead of PM visit

Imphal, March 10 2018:
As a part of the intensified security measures in the State for the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Imphal West district police conducted cordon and house to house search operations in different parts of the district today.
Imphal West commando personnel conducted cordon and search operation at Thangal bazaar Ngari Gali and Kalibari area, at around noon.
More than 100 individuals were verified by the police during the operation, though no one was detained.
The same police team also carried out cordon and house to house search operation at Uripok Khaidem Leikai and Kwakeithel bazaar.
Another team of Imphal West commando conducted frisking and checking of vehicles at Kwakeithel bazar area.
During the operation, five individuals who did not posses valid vehicle documents and driving licenses, were detained and handed over to Kwakeithel outpost for further verification.
Similarly, frisking and checking of vehicles were conducted at Singjamei bazaar area.
During the checking, the police detained 24 two wheelers and 2 four wheelers without proper registration number and handed the drivers/owners over to Singjamei PS.
On the other hand, Tengnoupal district police also intensified its security measures in the district for the visit of the Union Home Minister for the inauguration of the Integrated Check Post at Moreh on March 15.A combined team of Tengnoupal district police conducted cordon search operation at Homeguard Veng and Moulhoi Veng, under Moreh PS, today evening.
Around 100 individuals were verified by the police during the operation, though no one was detained.
