Covid-19: State continues to record high TPR
699 new positive cases, 12 fatalities reported in 24 hours; 58 partially, one fully vaccinated persons dead

The state is getting no respite from the second wave of the Covid-19 as the pandemic continues its onslaught since the beginning of April and daily positivity rate reaching double digit from May 1 this year.
On Saturday, official bulletins reported 12 death cases and 699 new positive cases out of 4941 samples tested and registered test positivity rate of 14.15 per cent against 14.68 per cent on Friday.
The average positivity rate for the current month stands at 14.17 per cent against 15.52 per cent in July, 10.34 per cent in June and 18.27 per cent in May.
The active caseload has come down to 8146 out of which 3205 (39.34 per cent) are in home isolation, 2511 (30.82 per cent) in CHICs, 1513 (18.57 per cent) in CCCs and 917 (11.26 per cent) in hospitals.
Among the hospitalised patients, 136 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 344 are on oxygen support and 67 on ventilator support.
At the same time, 60 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.
As of Saturday evening, 218 beds including 51 ICU/HDU beds are available in different private hospitals including Hand Hospital and LFS Covid Treatment Centre run by MSF, and 2156 beds in different CCCs.
There is no updated information on RIMS and JNIMS but as of Friday evening RIMS had 96 beds including 23 ICU/HDU beds and JNIMS 4 ICU/HDU beds available.
Different district hospitals and CHCs also have 165 beds including 13 ICU/HDU beds available as of Friday evening.
So far, the state has recorded 74,188 positive cases and 1266 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic, out of which 5089 new cases and 84 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, the 699 new cases included 698 people (340 male & 358 female) from among the general population and one Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) jawan.
Their samples were tested at RIMS (31), JNIMS (44), District Hospitals (408) and other testing centres (216).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (139), Imphal West (316), Thoubal (36), Bishnupur (79), Kakching (19), Ukhrul (20), Churachandpur (48), Chandel (6) Senapati (8), Tamenglong (11), Tengnoupal (2), Pherzawl (1), Kamjong (2) and Kangpokpi (11).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 12 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours but no gender and age information have been provided.
The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (4), Imphal East (2), Thoubal (1) Bishnupur (3), Kakching (1) and Churachandpur (1).The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1640.Out of 12 victims, three did not have any co-morbid conditions and four had received first dose vaccine.
So far, 59 vaccinated persons including one who had received both doses have died due to the infectious disease.
In the last 24 hours, 908 patients were discharged from home isolation (362), RIMS (11), JNIMS (14), CCCs (251) and CHICs (270).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,03,588 (general population - 99,534 and CAPF personnel - 4,054).Number of recovered cases is 93,802 (general population - 89,842 and CAPF personnel - 3,960) and number of active cases is 8,146 (general population - 8,057 and CAPF personnel - 89).The recovery rate is 90.55 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 1517 D-type and 347 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
In all, 11,663 vaccine doses were administered on Friday and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 11,40,130.However, number of fully vaccinated individuals is only 2,40,056 against 2,91,152 eligible people.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (34,705), Imphal East (23,186), Thoubal (8613), Churachandpur (8847), Kangpokpi (2456), Tamenglong (2876), Bishnupur (7727), Senapati (1885), Ukhrul (1848), Kakching S, Chandel (2026), Noney (852), Tengnoupal (984k), Jiribam (963), Kamjong (604) and Pherzawl (251).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (555), Imphal East (388), Thoubal (151), Churachandpur (142), Kangpokpi (53), Tamenglong (12), Bishnupur (156), Senapati (6), Ukhrul 21), Kakching (100), Chandel 31), Noney (4), Tengnoupal 10), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4) and Pherzawl (0).However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs and DSOs of some districts.
The state health authority is not willing to provide district-specific case status despite repeated request from media.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 33,383 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 22,871 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 3,61,860 tests per million population against the national average of 3,42,913 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.58 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, 4941 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 14.15 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 9.23 per cent.
