Imphal, June 02 2021:
Asserting that NFSA beneficiaries of Wangkhei assembly constituency have been deprived of benefits for several years due to delay in linking Aadhaar and updating ration cards and many have been getting less quantity of the benefits, BJP Wangkhei Mandal has formed a fact-finding committee to investigate into the matter.
Addressing a press meet in this regard at the residence of Wangkhei MLA Yumkham Erabot at Khurai Ahongei on Wednesday, BJP Wangkhei Mandal president Md Feroze said that NFSA beneficiaries of the constituency are not getting their entitled benefits regularly ever since O Henry got elected.
During the first wave of Covid-19, beneficiaries of the constituency received 3 to 4 kg of rice per head under PMGKAY.
Though the allocation was made from April to November, beneficiaries got their share for only three to four months, that too, at reduced quantity.
There are still many unclear issues regarding the allocation and utilisation of PMGKAY and NFSA rice for the constituency, he said.
This year also, NFSA allocations for January to March were lifted from the warehouse but distributed for only one month to the beneficiaries.
FPS agents under his supervision collected copies of Aadhaar card for renewing NFSA card and Aadhaar linking.
However, no process was taken up.
As a result, the constituency is getting reduced share of PMGKAY rice, thus making it impossible to distribute 5 kg per head in the current situation, he said.
BJP active member Yumkham Rohoso said that people lacked proper knowledge on NFSA benefits and the former agents completely ignored data entry in the NFSA cards of the beneficiaries by keeping them in their hands.
He then said that the party is engaging 15 youths to update NFSA cards for the people of the constituency so that they could get their full benefits in future.
Mandal general secretary Ningthoujam Ramani and other office bearers were also present at the press meet.
