AMSU bats for Anti Rape Law Bill

The All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has demanded the State Government to introduce and pass the Anti Rape Law Bill in the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
A press release issued by convenor Women Wing, AMSU has cautioned that it will not remain quite if the Monsoon Assembly session wraps up without passing the said Bill.
Pointing out that cases and incidents of crimes against women and children is still prevailing in the State, AMSU alleged that the respective Governments have failed to take up solid actions which in turn failed to delivered punishment to majority of the culprits and rapists, till date.
It further alleged that it is the continued negligence of the respective Governments which has resulted in frequent occurrence of such crimes against women and children in the State.
Member of AMSU Women Wing had submitted memos regarding the matter to Governor Dr Najma Heptulla and Chief Minister N Biren Singh on April 9 and a mass rally was also held.
It claimed that the Governor and Chief Minister had given their assurance to look into the matter and to pass the Anti Rape Law Bill during the Monsoon Assembly session.
