CYCLONE storm into Luwangpokpa T-20 semi-final

CYCLONE Cricket Club, Thangmeiband registered an eight-wicket victory over REYS, Nagamapal today to storm into the semifinal of the 2nd MCA T-20 Luwangpokpa Trophy 2018 which is underway since June 21 under the aegis of Manipur Cricket Association at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium.
Electing to bat first, REYS scored 109/5 in 20 overs powered by Sarthak (41* off 33 balls) with Jayenta (34 off 33 balls) and Krishnakant (13 off 19 balls).
Chasing 110 to win, CYCLONE Cricket Club finished the game in 17.2 overs for the loss of 2 wickets.
In their reply, CYCLONE were off to a strong start.
The pair of Akshaykumar (29*of 25 balls) and Vishal (26 of 26 balls) set the tone early to give their team a strong foundation.
Narsingh (20 off l9 balls) and Gopal (20 off 24 balls) followed soon as they smashed each delivery over the boundary with ease in their semifinal journey with 8 wicket victory over REYS.
Earlier in the contest, Sarthak scored 41* runs whereas the pair of Jayenta and Krishnakant contributed 34 and 13 runs respectively to take REYS to 109/5 in their allotted 20 overs.
Homendro of CYCLONE moved the ball impressively and dismissed 2 wickets whereas his teammate Vishal and Akshaykumar finished with one wicket each.
For REYS, Jitendra and Jayenta garnered one wicket each in their 4 overs spell.
The man of the match award went to Akshaykumar of Cyclone for his 29 runs of 25 balls and dismissing one wicket.
Meanwhile, the quarterfinal match between PTRC, Patsoi and TRAU, Kwakeithel will start afresh tomorrow at 9 am as their match was stopped due to poor visibility in their previous meeting while CHAMP Cricket Club, Khangempalli will take on Model Club, Chingamakha in the first semifinal at 1 pm.
