Union Ministry approves setting up of PG Hostel in RIMS

Speaking to Hueiyen Lanpao, Professor Kh Shekharjit, Director RIMS, said that the seat capacity of PG students in RIMS previously was 75.But now it has been increased to 150 .
As such the PG students have been facing lodging problems.
The students have been made to stay in special wards, staffs quarters and security barracks previously used by security personals.
RIMS authority recently approached the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare regarding the problem faced by the students in which the Ministry approved in principle for setting up of PG Hostel for both boys and girls with a capacity of 250 students in RIMS.
He further went on to say that a sub power station will be installed in RIMS to provide uninterrupted power supply.
Due to the ongoing blockade on both NHs, the procurement of these generators has been delayed.
Although the Power department has provided a dedicated power line for RIMS, the actual capacity of power is not received by RIMS due to unauthorized connections to other private hospitals and clinics, he said.
On the shortage of water in RIMS he said that water for all purposes in RIMS is obtained from the Naoremthong water supply source.
But due illegal siphonings of water by local people from the main pipe the required amount of water has not been obtained.
On the other hand, Dr Kh Sekharjit said RIMS has so far produced 2660 MBBS along with 844 MD/MS.There are 28 departments in RIMS and students can now avail the opportunity for doing Master of Philosophy in Plastic Surgery, Urology and Clinical Psychology, he added.
