Govt committed to better living, development: CM

Chief minister N Biren Singh has said that the government is putting in all its efforts for ensuring public welfare, better living and development of the state.
Speaking at the launch and distribution function of medicinal plant saplings to farmers and other individuals under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav 'Ayush Aapke Dwar' organised by State Medicinal Plant Board and State AYUSH Society, Directorate of AYUSH at Chief Minister's Secretariat on Friday, the chief minister applauded the priceless support and cooperation of the people to the government in the last four and half years.
Maintaining that bandhs, strikes and insurgency problems are a thing of the past, he said that the economy and law and order situation have been improved significantly in the state.
He also stated that various welfare schemes and programmes have been implemented for inclusive development and added that subsidised loans are being provided to entrepreneurs, unemployed youth for sustainable livelihood under Start-Up schemes and by banks.
N Biren mentioned that Churachandpur Medical College would be made functional soon as the construction of a temporary campus is nearing completion.
A 30-bedded hospital at Singhat is ready for inauguration, he added.
The CM informed that he had personally requested Prime Minister Modi and Union minister for education for the up-gradation of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (Regional Campus Manipur) into a full-fledged central university.
Mentioning the benefits of AYUSH medicine in curing various diseases and maintaining overall health, N Biren said that there has been tremendous increase in use of AYUSH medicines and treatment in the last several years.
He pointed out that different varieties of medicinal plants are found in the state and these plants have great health benefits and have been used since time immemorial.
Talking about the rich resources in the fields of agriculture and horticulture, the CM stated that our agricultural and horticultural products are in great demand outside the state as they have different taste and higher nutritional value.
The government is continuously helping the farmers in exporting their products outside the state, he added.
The chief minister appreciated the initiatives and role of the AYUSH Department during the Covid-19 pandemic.
AYUSH-64 tablets were distributed to those patients who are in home isolation, he noted.
On the occasion, N Biren distributed 1.4 lakh medicinal plant saplings to farmers and individuals from various districts.
Minister for TA&H Vunzagin Valte, advisor to CM (Health) Dr Sapam Ranjan, principal secretary (Health) V Vumlunmang, director (AYUSH) Dr A Guneshwor Sharma and others attended the programme.
