JP seeks immediate end to violence

Imphal, June 13 2026: Janata Party Manipur State Unit president Dr Khundrakpam Kanba Meitei today demanded that the ethnic strife continuing since May 3, 2023 be ended immediately and accountability fixed for the violence that has spread between communities, displaced families, and caused loss of lives.

Speaking at a party officebearers' meeting, he said giving Rs 10,000 compensation while turning a blind eye to the plight of women and children is inadequate, and urged the government to restore peace and stability without delay.

He added that the party is strengthening its organisation to field maximum candidates in the 2027 General Election.
