Assam Rifles conducts free medical camps

Keithelmanbi and Mantripukhri Battalions of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) observed "International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking" by organising a free medical camp cum awareness drive against drug abuse today.
Canchipur Company Operating Base (COB) of Keithelmanbi Battalion organised medical camp cum awareness drive against drug abuse at Uchepokpi village, Lilong, said a statement of PRO IGAR (South) .
In addition to the medical checkup, consultation on various diseases and health related issues as well as free medicines were distributed to the needy patients, said AR.
The Battalion in a joint venture with Krsnaa Diagnostic Centre, Imphal, also carried out free of cost tests including Lipid profile, Blood sugar and diabetes for the locals.
In addition, a Mobile Dental Clinic was also established with medical team under the Dental officer from 12 Dental Unit Assam Rifles (DUAR), added AR.
Koirengei COB of Mantripukhri Battalion also organised an interactive lecture on 'Harmful Effects of Drugs' at Lamjing Educational Institute with an aim to generate awareness about the ill effects of drugs and to guide the youth to lead a healthy life, conveyed AR.
Meanwhile, Moreh Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) has also organised a free medical camp and counselling session for inmates of Moreh De-addiction Centre today.
The medical camp was conducted by Medical officer and staff of Unit Hospital, Moreh battalion.
A total of 20 patients attended the medical camp and were educated on the benefits of a drug free life, said AR.
A separate counselling session on Drug Abuse was also organised for the participants of Multi Skill Development Centre in collaboration with trainer of NSDC.
A total of 60 youth of Moreh town benefited from the counselling session, said AR .
