KNF, village chief clarify, refute report

The Kuki National Front (KNF) has expressed shock over the report that suspected cadres of the outfit in vandalised the residence of L Hengjol village chief on June 22 .
The report was carried in certain sections of the media.
Information and publicity secretary of the outfit, Lh Stephen expressed shock over the report that suspected cadres of the KNF were involved in vandalising the residence of the village chief.
Lh Stephen clarified that the outfit has no knowledge of the incident and no one has been sent from the finance department to the chief's residence to collect money or asked the chief to gather money from the teachers.
He continued that the incident seems to be the handiwork of some elements who want to malign the good image of KNF while adding that it [KNF] feel very sorry for the village chief and strongly condemn the allegations.
"KNF is mature mother organization of the Kuki militant groups," he added.
Meanwhile, the village chief of L.Hengjol has also clarified that the allegation is baseless while stating that indeed an incident occurred on that particular night but not as reported in the newspapers.
He said that on June 22 evening some unknown youth were loitering in the village in an inebriated condition shouting in and around the village.
They were scolded for their behavior and asked to leave the village.
"However, late in the night they came back to my residence and challenge my authority and it was when the villagers chased them out of the village," said the village chief.
He further clarified that no underground outfit came to my meet him on June 16 morning, as alleged in the newspapers, and no one had asked him to gather money from the teachers.
