Moreh, November 11 2009:
Kuki Chiefs' Association (KCA), Moreh block has extended their full support to the ongoing NH 39 Indefinite band called by the Kuki Chiefs' Association, Chandel and Thadou Students' Association (TSA) due to the irregularities in appointment of district council teachers.
The association expressed deep concern over the state government's failure to solve the demands of the two associations.
In a statement, president of KCA, Moreh Block, Ch Ngamthang Mate pointed out that Chandel district is constituted with a population 60% Kukis and 40% Nagasand others.
But, during recruitments of District Council teachers, 80% of the vacancies for the District are allotted to the Naga Community by the CEO.
The Kukis managed to get only 5% after much effort.
The irregularities in recruitment for any Department had been prevailing since the shifting of District Headquarters from Tengnoupal to Chandel.
The KCA reminded that, Chandel District doesn't mean only Nagas settlers, many other communities also settle within the district.
Therefore every vacancy should be given to all the communities equitably so as to avoid misunderstanding between the different communities, it stated.
The state government should understand that in a democratic country like India, the government authorities in every department are for all the people but not a particular community.
But in Chandel district, the authorities seem to be appointed only for the Nagas, the statement lamented while adding that not only in the recruitment of teachers, even in the recent MSDP scheme the Naga inhabited areas grasp more than 70% of the scheme.
The KCAMB demanded immediate transfer of the CEO thereby re-recruitment the District Council Teachers within the different communities equally.
The association also demanded that the District Headquarters be shifted to Pallel immediately.
If the demands are not fulfilled within November, 2009, the association will be compelled to launch a serious agitation in future, the statement added.
