Imphal, November 11 2009:
Like every year, People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) and its armed wing the Red Army would be observing Athoubasinggi Ningshing Numit on November 12 in remembrance of the departed leaders.
Announcing this in a statement, secretary incharge of department of publicity and propaganda of the outfit, Aheiba Angom, recalled that on November 12, 1978, a combined force of CRPF and Manipur Police attacked a transit camp of PREPAK at Leimarok in Kameng.
In the said attack, Angam alias Dhiren and Leingam alias Kabikanta of PREPAK and Gambhir of PLA who were staying in the same transit camp laid down their lives after fighting till the end.
Again on November 12 of 1985, leader of the outfit RK Tullachndra lost his life in an unfortunate encounter between the Red Army and personnel of 7th Manipur Rifles, then posted at the Sugar Mill of Kabowakching.
In commemoration of these two unforgettable incidents, PREPAK and its armed wing Red Army have been observing November 12 every year as the Athoubasinggi Ningshing Numit (Black Day).
Calling upon the people to support and participate in the observance, Aheiba also urged the people to a torch in every household and restrain from organising any entertainment programmes on said day.
He also reiterated the commitment of PREPAK and its Red Army to continue the 'freedom struggle' along the path shown by the departed leaders.
