The mass signature campaign of the Youth Front, Manipur People Party (MPP) on the demand for resignation of the Chief Minister, O Ibobi started at its office premise today.
The signature campaign is based on the demands for CBI inquiry into the July 23 shooting incident, registration of FIR case against the police commando personnel involved in the incident and resignation of O Ibobi from the Chief Ministership on moral ground for giving an untrue statement in the house of the state Assembly.
The youth front of the party will submit a memorandum to the President of India demanding to deliver justice to the people of the state citing the chaos situation of the state arising out in the aftermath of the July 23 alleged fake encounter incident.
Around 2000 people signed to the memorandum to be submitted to the President of India on the first day.
MPP president, Dr Nimaichand Luwang who took part in the launching function was the first man to sign.Signatures of pedestrians in front of the MPP office were also taken on the first day of the launching of the campaign.
The campaign will be spread across the state through the Kendra Committees and units of the party, according to the organizers.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Nimaichand Luwang said that the campaign is part of the party's protest against the July 23 fake encounter.
The campaign also aims at bringing an end to the unrest situation experiencing by the people of the state.
A memorandum containing the signatures of the people will be submitted to the president of India demanding justice in the July 23 incident, said president of MPP Youth Front, Manihar who also spoke at the launching function held at the office of the MPP on the western side of the Imphal Polo ground.
People of the state are in the midst of live and death under the O Ibobi Singh led SPF government.
Even though three months had passed since the occurrence of the July 23 incident, government is not initiating any action to deliver justice to the people, said Manihar, president of the Youth Front spearheading the campaign speaking to gathering.
