Imphal, February 06 2020:
Council Of Teachers Association (COTA), All Manipur Elementary School Teachers Association (AMESTA), All Manipur Government Lecturer Welfare Association (AMGLWA) and All Manipur Secondary School Teachers Association (AMSSTA), jointly organised a sit in protest in front of the office of ZEO Zone I Office at Khoyathong today demanding implementation of 7th Pay for the teachers.
Speaking to media persons on the sideline of the protest, COTA convenor Ch Santakumar said that 7th Pay has already come in effect for the other North East States.
However, in the case of Manipur, the State Government has failed to implement the Pay structure till date for the teachers, which has forced the teachers to come out and take part in the sit in protest today, he exclaimed.
If the State Government remained adamant and still refuse to implement the 7th Pay structure, the teachers have even decided to refrain from taking part in any of the examinations conducted by the Board Of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) and Council Of Higher Secondary Education (COHSEM), he warned, adding that COT A, in the past, had submitted an ultimatum to the Government.
However the Government's failure has forced the teachers to come out and launch intense agitation, he claimed.
Similar agitation will also be launched in other districts of the State, he cautioned.
