Stressing on the importance of deworming the children, Mission Director, NHM Manipur, Ningthoujam Geoffrey has appealed the parents and teachers to ensure that children in Anganwadi Centres are dewormed on National Deworming Day which falls on February 10 .
Speaking to media persons at Lamphel today, Ningthoujam Geoffrey said that National Deworming Day was launched in most parts of the country on February 10, 2015 .
For Manipur, it was launched in 2016, he informed, appealing all to bring their children on the National Deworming Day so that they can be given Albendazole tablets.
He explained that those children who fail to get dewormed on the said day, can do so on February 17 which is when the mop up round will be conducted.
Pointing out that the programme targets those between the age of 1 to 19 years, the Director conveyed that a Albendazole tablets will be provided to 10.5 lakh children this coming deworming day, adding that necessary training has been imparted to the ASHAs, ANMs, Anganwadi workers and teachers.
