Supply of drinking water without treatment has been detected at a water supply scheme at Koirengei during inspection by a team of Manipur Human Rights Commission today.
During the inspection by a team of the state human right commission led by its member Ng Nongyai, only one staff was also found attending the scheme site.
Supervisor of the Koirengei Water Supply Scheme, S Mangi said owing to the failure of the water filter around a year back, the scheme is supplying water without filter to the people.
But he added that other processes like treatment with breezing powder, alum and lime etc.
are done before supplying to the people, he added.
Mangi further said that the supply of water is under suspension for the last around one month due to low voltage power supply but supply to the water tankers is going on.
The human rights team also inspected primary health centre, lock-up at police station at Heingang in Imphal east apart from taking stock of the working of the NREGS under the Khabam Gram Panchayat.
Staffs of the primary health centre informed the team that they did not get medicines requires for treatment of people supply by the government and the centre is facing water availability problems.
During the visit at Heingang police station, the team finds 452 cases registered with the station pending.
OC, inspector Noren gives the reasons not able to take up the cases as due to heavy engagement of its personnel in law and order maintenance, VIP tour programmes and frequent transfer of them.
This also gives inconveniences to delivering justice to the people by solving the cases, he added.
The team also detected providing 47 days jobs to the NERGS job card holders at Khabam Gram Panchayat against 100 days.
Apart from this even though the workers have works for 37 days, they are not getting wages for 28 days.
After hearing the complaint of the job card holders, member, Ng Nongyai assured the beneficiaries that he would approached the matter to the DC concern.
Villagers also complaint that they are getting rice under PDS item at the rate of Rs 10 per Kg against government fixed rate of Rs 6 per Kg apart from this against 35 Kgs per month to be supply to the PDS card holders only 10 Kg per month got by them.
They also complaint of not getting sugar supply under the PDS.
