The United Committee, Manipur called on the people of the state for unity and suggested that all the civil society organisations should come under a single umbrella body.
This was stated by the chief of UCM in its founday day today.
The ninth foundation day of United Committee Manipur (UCM) was celebrated today at Kangla hall.
The function was graced by Leishemba Sanajaoba, Maharaja of Manipur, as chief guest, Yumnamcha Dilipkumar, president UCM, as president and several guests of honour.
UCM was formed in the year 2001 with its main objective of protecting the territorial integrity of Manipur.
The chief guest of the function, the titular king of Manipur, Leishemba Sanajaoba appealed to the people and the numerous organizations in Manipur to unite under a single umbrella.
The president of the function and UCM, Yumnamcha Dilipkumar accused the government of Manipur of not paying heed to the voice and demands of the people and appealed to the people to help to erase corruption in Manipur.
He said that the government is intentionally supporting the militants in Manipur by killing innocent people in fake encounters and that the rise of women being involved in transporting arms and money was also a handiwork of the government.
The president of National Identity Protection Committee (NIPCO), Y.Nabachandra stated that armed conflict in Manipur cannot be solved by killings, but, he warned, killings may wipe out Manipuris from the face of the earth and no one would gain from it.
