Rs 5 lakh to next of kin of Dwijamani

A meeting of the State Cabinet today has recommended payment of Rs 5 lakh as ex-gratia to the next of kin of deceased journalist Thangjam Dwijamani and appointment of his wife to the post of a Primary teacher.
The meeting of the Cabinet was held with Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh in the chair in the Cabinet room of the Chief Minister's Secretariat at around 3 pm today.
Among other recommendations adopted in today's meeting, the Cabinet has also approved extension of the service of National Awardee teachers by two years and that of the State awardees by one year.
For finalizing the matter, a Committee would be entrusted for doing the needful.
For proper utilization of the fund sanctioned under NREGS, the Cabinet recommended that in the hills, the joint bank account should be opened by the concerned village chairman or a nominated member of the Village authority and the SDO concerned and it would be countersigned by the BDO concerned.
For the Gram Panchayats, the joint bank account is to be opened by the Pradhan and the BDO concerned and it would be countersigned by the Executive Director concerned.
As of Zilla Parishad, the bank account is to be opened jointly by the Adhyaksha and the CEO concerned and it would be countersigned by the Executive Director concerned.
With regard to ADCs, the Cabinet recommended that the joint bank account should be opened by the ADC Chairman and the Joint Director concerned and it would be countersigned by the Executive Director concerned.
Furthermore, the State Cabinet has given its approval to appointment in nine posts in Tribal Research Institute and eight posts in ADC Bhavan.
Along with discussing issues related to ensuring effective distribution of PDS items among the people, the State Cabinet resolved to send Rs 30 crore project proposal to the Centre for taking up necessary measures.
It also resolved to implement Targeted Public Distribution system more effectively.
For this, the Cabinet gave its approval to appointment of 122 posts including 8 Civil Supply Inspectors, 5 Delivery Assistants, 43 Computer Operators, 64 Drivers and 2 Stenographers.
The Cabinet also decided to fill up the post of DSO Imphal East district, which is still lying vacant.
To monitor the movement of trucks transporting PDS items, the State Cabinet recommended fitting of GPRS and appointment of transporters through tender process.
Today's Cabinet meeting has also approved establishment of a Trade cum Exhibition Centre at Hafiz Hatta.
For this, a land measuring 2.26 acres belonging to Aru-Ahen Pisciculture Co-operative Society has been entrusted to Commerce and Industries.
Moreover, the Cabinet gave its green signal to setting up of a Timber Park at Kuraopokpi in Thoubal district and for this around 30 hectares of land at Kuraopokpi would be handed over to the Commerce and Industries Department.
