ICHAM urges Govt to seek expert view

Information Centre for Hill Areas Manipur (ICHAM) has urged the Chief Minister O Ibobi to constitute the proposed independent body to oversee equal distribution of share with regards to welfare schemes of the Government after seeking views and opinions from experts.
While addressing a press conference held today, ICHAM President N Boy welcomed the Chief Minister's plan to constitute an independant body headed by a retired justice to oversee the equal distribution of share of welfare schemes to all sections of the State.
N Boy opined that seeking expert vew is a must before the constitution of the body.
The ICHAM President said that no welfare scheme would serve its purpose if the officials concerned fail to implement it properly.
In this regard, N Boy emphasised on the need to direct the officials and Government employees deputed in hill areas to render their service in proper manner.
In short, he added, the Government must ensure State Government administration in hill districts.
N Boy also stressed on the need to enhance road transport in hill areas.
Mentioning about the resources of the State, N Boy urged the Government to revive paper mill, Hundung cement factory, development of steel extraction facility at Sirui, protection of agriculture land and initiation of measures to enhance production of lemon, orange, soibum (fermented bamboo sood) and heiribop (local fruit used as curry flavour).
N Boy also urged the Government to build cold storages to store these produce.
Saying that more than 150 different species of medicinal plants are found in Manipur, N Boy also urged to encourage farmers to farm these medicinal plants.
He also suggested the Cabinet Ministers to visit the hill areas atleast once in a month .
N Boy also suggested the Government to look into the possibilities of introducing local train services from Senapati to Churachandpur and Ukhrul to Tamenglong.
