Imphal, December 29 2012:
To prevent unwanted interruption in power supply, the State Electricity Department has appealed to the public and all concerned authorities to abstain from burning garbages near any underground power cable, transformers, feeder pillars and LT cable wires.
In a notice, T Ibouchouba Singh, Executive Engineer of Imphal Electricity Division-I informed that the Department is supplying power to consumers residing in Paona Bazar, Thangal Bazar and other surrounding areas through the underground 11 KV power cable and L T cable wires.
But found garbages piling just beside Kelichana Transformer, near Family Welfare office was found burning early morning today.
Personnel of Electricity Department rushed to the spot and put off the fire just in time to save the cable wires connected to the transformer from being damaged.
Requesting all not to throw their junk items near any of the transformers and underground cable wires and burn them, Ibouchouba pointed out in case of damage, repairing of underground cable wires would take time and it could cause inconveniences to all.
So, to avoid such problems, concerned authorities should see that garbages are not thrown and burnt near power cables, feeder pillars, transformers, etc.
