Cabinet nod to 6 new PSs Appointment of Brinda cleared

To ensure smooth completion of the ongoing railway line development works from Jiribam to Imphal, the State Cabinet has decided to set up six more police stations newly to take care of the security concerns of the workers.
The Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister O Ibobi at the Cabinet hall, Chief Minister's Secretariat was held from 3 pm to 5 pm today.
Briefing media after the meeting, Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro Singh, who is also the Spokesperson of the State Government, informed that the six new police stations are to be set up at Keimai, Khongsang, Awangkhul, Zoujangtek, Thangal village, all in Tamenglong district and at Machi village in Chandel district.
These steps are being taken up to ensure security and protection for the workers engaged in railway line construction for its smooth and speedy progress.
On other decisions of the State Cabinet, Okendro informed that the name of DV Singh, a retired IAS officer, has been recommended for appointment as the new Chairman of Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) and LP Golmei, Principal Secretary (Transport) as Member.
The recommendations for filling up the vacant post of MPSC Chairman as well as Member have been made keeping in mind the decision of the State Government to conduct the examination for recruitment MPS, MCS regularly.
'Since the post of MPSC Chairman would be filled up now, the process for setting up Manipur Education Service could also be started', Okendro added.
He further informed that today's Cabinet meeting has given approval to appoint RK Ongbi Thounoajam Brinda Devi to the post of MPS.
The Cabinet approval followed dropping of the court case against Brinda after it failed to get evidence of the charges brought against her.
Brinda, a daughter-in-law of Chairman of the banned United National Liberation Front (UNLF) R.K Sanayaima alias Meghen, has been charged with having links with her father-in-law.
Today's Cabinet meeting has also given approval to construction of DIET Centre for Imphal East.
In this regard, the Government spokesperson pointed out that at present there are around 4970 untrained teachers in Manipur.
But as per the guidelines of National Council for Teachers' Education, all the teachers are to be trained by 2015 and the DIET Centres would be imparting necessary trainings to the teachers.
The Government spokesperson also informed that construction of buildings for Kasturba Gandhi Residential Schools would be started soon and all these buildings would have the same design.
