The State Cabinet has today approved establishment of five police stations in order to assist the Jiribam-Tupul railway project in the form of providing security cover.
Speaking to media persons after a Cabinet meeting this afternoon, Education Minister and Government spokesman M Okendro informed that new police stations would be set up at Keimai, Khongshang, Awangkhul, Zoujangtek and Thangal where the railway line would pass through.
The Cabinet also gave its consent for opening another police station at Machi in Chandel district.
It further resolved to appoint retired IAS officer DV Singh to the post of Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) Chairman which is lying vacant since February 29 .
Principal Secretary (Transport) LP Golmei has been appointed as the MPSC Member.
Once the MPSC resumes its functions, the State Government's plan to hold Combined Civil Services Examinations and examinations for Manipur Education service annually can be expedited, Okendro stated.
The existing 4917 untrained teachers under School Education Department would be trained by 2015 and DIET centres would be upgraded.
Regarding denial of offer form to one Th Brinda who has successfully cleared Combined Civil Service examination on account of pending police case against her, the Cabinet meeting agreed to withdraw the police case and issue MPSC offer form to the successful candidate.
