Lightning kills 2 at Tusom Khullen

Ukhrul, March 22 2013:
In a lightning strike on Friday evening, two villagers were killed at Tusom Khullen village under Chingai sub-division of Ukhrul district.
According to local reports, the two persons were killed after a powerful lightening struck a house at around 4.30pm at Tusom Khullen, a border village located 117kms from Ukhrul headquarters.
The deceased villagers, who are both brothers, have been identified as AS Tuichung (53) and AS Chinaochan (42) .
While Tuichung was survived by his wife and seven children, Chinaochan was survived by his wife and three children.
They were both cultivators and the sole breadwinner of family.
Locals said seven persons were present and sitting around the hearth at Chinaochan's house when the powerful lightening struck through the tin roof at the time when there was incessant rainfalls.
It was informed that Tuichung reportedly lost conciousness after the lightening and died 30 minutes later.
However, Chinaochan passed away five minutes after the incident.
The other occupants were reportedly safe till filling of this report.
