Imphal, October 20 2021:
The Manipur State Panchayat Pairishad (MSPP) has resolved to launch stern agitations from October 27 onwards if the State Government fails to release the MGNREGA funds sanctioned by the Centre.
The resolution was taken during a meeting of Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) staff convened at Porompat, today.
Speaking to the media, MSPP president Md Abdul Latif claimed that the State Government has not released the MGNREGA fund - 2nd instalment of tied fund for the financial year 2020-21 and 1st instalment of tied and untied fund for 2021-22 to the PRIs.
Further claiming that the Government is yet to deliver the assurance given on different occasions, he added that the MSPP will no longer submit memorandum to the Government.
During the protest, the MSPP will also carry out a poster campaign of the fund sanctioned by the Centre, Md Abdul Latif said and asked why the State Government is not releasing the fund meant for the public.
He, on the other hand, condemned the alleged assault on Maibam Leikai Gram Panchayat Pradhan Ngangom Kunjarani and urged the Government to book the perpetrators at the earliest.
