TPR picks up after temporary relief, four succumb

Imphal, August 19 2021: After witnessing a temporary dip in daily positivity rate, the state on Thursday registered 12.63 per cent positivity rate by recording 526 new positive cases out of 4165 samples.

Meanwhile, fatality rate has reduced significantly with Thursday reporting only four death cases.

For the last four days, the state has been recording single digit daily death cases.

The active caseload, however, rose marginally to 5508 out of which 1596 (28.98 per cent) are in home isolation, 2167 (39.34 per cent) in CHICs, 1041 (18.90 per cent) in CCCs and 704 (12.78 per cent) in hospitals.

Among the hospitalised patients, 137 are admitted in ICU/HDU wards, 258 are on oxygen support and 68 on ventilator support.

However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support at JNIMS, Hand Hospital and LFS Covid Treatment Centre though these facilities have 200, 24 and 18 patients respectively.

At the same time, 34 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.

As of Wednesday evening, 388 beds including 67 ICU/HDU beds in different hospitals, 2506 beds in different CCCs, and 296 beds (19 ICU/HDU) were available in district hospitals and CHCs.

So far, the state has recorded 80,443 positive cases and 1358 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.

The current month saw addition of 11,344 new cases and 176 fatalities out of which 3136 new cases and 49 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.

According to official reports, the 526 new cases included 522 persons (267 male & 255 female) from among the general population and four personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).

Their samples were tested at RIMS (11), JNIMS (86), District Hospitals (298) and other testing centres (131).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (97), Imphal West (178), Thoubal (42), Bishnupur (23), Kakching (32), Ukhrul (59), Churachandpur (39), Chandel (7), Senapati (4), Tamenglong (4), Noney (3), Kamjong (28) and Kangpokpi (6).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the reports said.

The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 4 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours but no age and gender information were disclosed by the committee.

The district wise fatalities are Imphal East (1), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (1) and Churachandpur (1).The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1732.Out of four victims, one did not have any co-morbid conditions and one had received first dose of vaccine.

In the last 24 hours, 520 persons were discharged from home isolation (218), RIMS (12), JNIMS (12), CCCs (129) and CHICs (149).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,09,843 (general population - 1,05,758 and CAPF personnel- 4,085).Number of recovered cases is 1,02,603 (general population - 98,575 and CAPF personnel 4,028 and number of active cases is 5,508 (general population - 5,456 and CAPF personnel - 52) .

The recovery rate is 93.40 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1481 D-type and 371 B-type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health facilities while 8790 vaccine doses were administered on Wednesday taking the cumulative number of vaccinated individual to 11,72,909.However, only 2,90,063 persons have received both doses of the vaccine against 3,52,651 persons eligible to get the second dose.

Meanwhile, 11 new positive cases were detected out of 86 samples tested from Wednesday 2 pm, to Thursday 2 pm in Kakching district.

Three cases were detected at Jivan Hospital and eight at government RAT sites.

One is from Imphal East and the rest are residents of Kakching district, according to DSO Kakching.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on 1DSP anij OCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (36,977), Imphal East (24,588), Thoubal (8948), Churachandpur (9319), Kangpokpi (2553), Tamenglong (2963), Bishnupur (8404), Senapati (1978), Ukhrul (2061), Kakching (6003), Chandel (2116), Noney (952), Tengnoupal (1007), Jiribam (991), Kamjong (649) and Pherzawl (334).Fatalities counts in different districts are Imphal West (574), Imphal East (405), Thoubal (160), Churachandpur (152), Kangpokpi (55), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (177), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (23), Kakching (108), Chandel (32), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (12), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4) and Pherzawl (0).However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs and DSOs of some districts.

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 35,399 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 23,190 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 3,77,707 tests per million population against the national average of 3,57,271 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.58 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, 4165 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 12.63 percent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 9.37 per cent.
