Power Station at Kangla ready to light up Imphal

With completion of the construction work on the power sub-station inside the historic Kangla Fort recently, it is expected that the problem of power supply in Imphal area would become a thing of the past soon.
The power sub-station has been constructed to reduce the problem of overloading at the Keishampat power house on account of increase in the number of power consumers in Imphal area.
Speaking to Hueiyen Lanpao on condition of anonymity, an official of the Electricity Department informed that the power house located at Keishampat has been supplying electricity to the people of Imphal area.
But along with passage of time, the number of consumers in Imphal area has increased manifold and as such the power house at Keishampat is overloaded most of the time.
The official further informed that a power sub-station of the same capacity has been constructed inside Kangla recently and it is ready for supplying electricity to the people of Imphal area.
With the operational of the power house constructed inside Kangla, the load from Keishampat power house would be reduced considerably.
The official also informed that the underground electric wire fitting in Paona Bazaar area has been almost completed.
As soon as the underground fitting is completed in Paona Bazaar, lying of underground cable power line in Thangal Bazaar area would be started.
Later on, the process would be extended upto North AOC and Golapati area.
The work of lying underground electric wire under the first phase would cover upto Kwakeithel area along Tiddim line, upto Khagempali along Mayai Lambi and upto Sagolband Salam Leikai area along Imphal-Jiri road, the official added.
