Imphal, April 10 2012:
To resolve the impasse which resulted from distorting the serial numbers for unloading fuel by tanker trucks, the DGMO of North East Integrated State Office, Guwahati arrived here today.
Because of the impasse, a large number of loaded tanker trucks have been lined up at Khuman Lampak.
Soon after arrival at Imphal, the DGMO held a meeting with transporters and drivers of oil tankers.
The meeting would be continued tomorrow too and it is expected that a solution would be brought after tomorrow's meeting.
As per the tender notice for transportation of fuel oils, retail outlets and dealers who own oil tankers may earmark certain number of tanker trucks for their own supply.
The same practice is in vogue at all India level.
Accordingly, certain number of tanker trucks were earmarked for direct fuel supply to retail outlets and dealers in Manipur too.
As per rules, it does not matter for the earmarked tanker trucks whether or not they distort the serial numbers for unloading the fuel.
The earmarked tanker trucks should unload at their retail outlets or dealers directly, informed an official source.
