Organisations continue to condemn killing of student

Imphal, July 09 2015 : Several organizations continued to condemn the killing of a student during ILP protest in police action on July 8 .

JCILPS Women Wing: Clamping curfew by Manipur Government after the avoidable killing of a student and injuring many others will only make more anger among the people, said Meitram Luwangleima, Women Wing member of JCILPS to Hueiyen Lanpao.

People have been demanding the implementation of ILP system in the State for a long time to safeguard the indigenous population of Manipur, she said.

But the Government has always acted against the wishes of the public.

The demand for ILP system by the students is reasonable since they are the future pillars of the society, said Luwangleima.

The dead body will not be claimed until the implementation of the ILP system in the State, she announced and said imposing curfew will only make the situation worse which will bring the Govt into its knees, she warned.

CPI: State CPI has expressed deep shock over the killing of a student during ILP protest in police action on July 8. CPI, CPI (M), All India Forward Block and CPI (ML) organized a joint press meet at Irawat Bhawan.

CPI leaders N Mangi and Dr M Nara condemned the killing of Sapam Robinhood, a Class XII student by police during ILP protest.

They criticized the State Government for misleading the people on the ILP issue.

The Government has time and again assured that the Manipur Regulation of Visitors, Tenants & Migrant Workers Bill 2015 (MRVT&MW Bill 2015) is amendable, they said.

The ILP protest has been intensified now and the Government is imposing curfew in the Greater Imphal causing suffering to daily wage earners, the CPI leaders said.

They demanded that the Government convene a high-level meeting to tackle the current state of affairs at an earliest.

AMMOCOC: All Manipur Muslim Organisations' Coordinating Committee (AMMOCOC) has also condemned the killing of Sapam Robinhood.

Organisation secretary of the committee M Quayum demanded that all culprits should be brought to book and shared the sorrow of the bereaved family.

He said the committee has been taking part in the ILP protest and pledged to support it further.
