Imphal, August 05 2020:
The students' union of constituent colleges namely the DM College of Arts, DM College of Science, DM College of Commerce and GP Women's College have condemned the charging of Rs 100 by Dhanamanjuri University as registration fees from students during online registration of Undergraduate courses for the academic session 2020-21 stating that the fee is not reasonable.
On the one hand, Manipur University has waived off registration fees considering the pandemic situation which has affected everyone, specially the economically backward families, while DMU, holding status of a State university, is looking to charge fees from the students during such difficult times, said the statement.
This step by DMU is against the interest of the students and seen as a business motive, it claimed.
The students union of constituent colleges have condemned the move and appealed to the concerned authority of DMU and Education (U) to withdraw the decision to charge registration fees.
