CM Biren pitches for PR in West Bengal

Imphal, June 02 2021: Chief minister N Biren Singh has suggested imposition of President's Rule in West Bengal in view of the occurrence of violence in the state prior and after the recently conducted assembly election.

Drawing attention of party's central leaders during a virtual conference of BJP leaders at BJP Manipur Pradesh office, Nityiapat Chuthek here on Wednesday, N Biren said that India is a democratic country and is honoured by many countries.

However, the violence in West Bengal prior and after the assembly election committed by Trinamool Congress (TMC) under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee has tarnished image of democracy, he said and condemned the violence.

Biren maintained that imposition of President's Rule in West Bengal will be the right step.

TMC forced people to vote for the party in the recently concluded assembly using brute force and hence the West Bengal government led by TMC must be taught a fitting lesson, he asserted, adding that it was very unfortunate that a political attack is being launched against the Prime Minister amidst the fight against COVID-19.He also said that civilised people of West Bengal are being dishonoured by Mamata Banerjee and democracy has lost its meaning in West Bengal and now is the right time to impose President's Rule in that state.

The virtual conference was also attended by BJP Manipur Pradesh in-charge president Dr Usham Deben, MP Dr RK Ranjan MP Leishemba Sanajaoba and general secretary Abhay Giri.

Meanwhile, in condemnation of the attack on labourers including fishermen, weavers, street vendors and plantation workers by TMC activities in West Bengal, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, Manipur state has declared that it will join the nation-wide Bengal Solidarity Day observance on Thursday.

In a release, BMS in-charge of Manipur-Nagaland N Tomba denounced the murder of 26 labourers and banishing of several others from their homes allegedly by TMC activists in South 24 Parganas and Medinapur districts of West Bengal.

Taking into consideration of the fact that the violence perpetrated against the simple labourers is violation of human rights and fundamental rights guaranteed by the Indian constitution, BMS Manipur will send a memorandum to West Bengal CM and Governor demanding to take actions against the TMC activists, the release conveyed.
