Two arrested

Three days after four people who alle-gedly claimed to be members of a SoO group served threat and fired several rounds in the air at Tuithapi village, Churachandpur police have apprehended two individuals in connection with the case, even as DIG (Range III) Kamei Angam Romanus visited the district to take stock of the situation.
Police sources identified the two individuals as Lalremruot alias Rema of and Ramchullou Varte, both belonging to Muolvaiphei village.
The DIG (Range III) while reviewing the security situation in the district also visited Tuithapi village.
He is also understood to have met and interacted with several villagers as well as tribe leaders in the company of SP Chura-chandpur and Additional SP (Ops) .
Meanwhile, the Zomi Chiefs Association has today voiced their concern over the August 26 incident which they alleged was committed for the second time by armed men belonging to one and same group.
They appealed to the Union Home Minister to arrest the chief of the group involved in terrorizing innocent Zomi villagers along with his cadres involved in the incident.
