JCCWB seizes vehicles for quarrying 'illegally'

Imphal, August 29 2020:
The Joint Coordination Committee on Wildlife and Biodiversity (JCCWB) seized six vehicles from different parts of the State for illegally quarrying earth from hills, today.
Of the six, 3 vehicles were seized from Heibok/Heiribok Hill, Hiyangthang and handed over to the Forest Beat Office at Hiyangthang.
Convenor of JCCWB, Romesh Ningthoujam said that Chief Minister N Biren Singh promised of conserving the said hill, which has a historical significance during World Environment Day observance 2019.He then appealed to the State Government and department concerned to take legal actions against the people involved in the illegal activity.
The committee also seized three vehicles for illegally quarrying earth from Waithou Leepokpi Leimang Konjil and handed it over to Range Forest Office, Thoubal.
