State records 28th COVID-19 death

The COVID-19 death toll has reached 28 in the State after a 78-year old man from Telipati, Imphal East died at JNIMS last night.
On the other hand, one personnel of 18th Bn SSB who hailed from the State expired at SMHS Government Hospital at Sanatnagar, Jammu & Kashmir on August 28 after he was found infected by COVID-19 on August 27 .
The deceased has been identified as one Ningombam Shanjoy s/o N Nima Singh of Moirang Khunou.
He was serving as an ASI in 18th Bn SSB at Sanatnagar, Jammu & Kashmir.
Sources informed that the latest victim was brought from Lamboi Khongnangkhong COVID Care Centre to JNIMS on August 25 .

The man died at around 7.45 pm yesterday and he was reportedly suffering from diabetes as well as hypertension.
So far, COVID-19 has claimed five people in Imphal East, 10 in Imphal West, five in Thoubal, three in Chandel, three in Kangpokpi and one each in Bishnupur and Churachandpur.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, 117 people including 30 CAPF personnel were tested positive for the contagion during the last 24 hours at RIMS, JNIMS, Thoubal, Hillside Charitable Hospital, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Babina Diagnostic Centre, Advance Hospital, Maipakpi Hospital, Imphal East RAT, Raj Medicity and Churachandpur.
They belong to Imphal West (62), Imphal East (9), Churachandpur (4), Thou-bal (6), Bishnupur (2), Chandel (1) and Noney (3) .
Of the 87 civilians who have been tested positive, 83 have no history of travelling outside the State.
In the meantime, 129 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from RD Wing (11), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (33), RIMS (1), Kasom Khullen (3), Churachandpur (2), UNACCO (20), JNIMS (20) and CAPF (39) during the last 24 hours after they were found COVID-19 free.
The cumulative figure of COVID-19 positive cases in the State as on Saturday is 5960 (general public 4419, Central security personnel 1541) including 1746 active cases (general public 1017, Central security personnel 729) and 4186 discharged cases (general public 3376, Central security personnel 810) .
The recovery rate is 70.23 per cent.
Meanwhile, a woman from Buxar, Bihar, presently staying at Bishnupur Ward No 7 has been found infected by COVID-19 after her sample was tested at Babina Diagnostic centre but her three-day old baby is negative.
It is said that the woman came to JNIMS on foot seeking admission in the hospital today.
Although the woman was not admitted in the hospital, she and her baby have been later accommodated in the UNACCO COVID Care Centre.
Meanwhile, 18 police personnel including one Sub-Inspector of Sugnu Police Station have tested positive for COVID-19 on RAT (Rapid Antigen Test) in Kakching district today.
When testing 496 samples, 25 COVID-19 positive were detected at JNIMS while six persons tested positive for the virus at Thoubal District Hospital on RAT, said sources.
In addition, 40 new COVID-19 cases were detected in Imphal West district today.
The cases include 4 each from Oinam Sawombung and Paobitek Mamang Leikai, 3 each from Yaiskul and SBI Paona bazar.
On the other hand, a meeting of the State level COVID-19 task force presided by Chief Secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar has decided to effect lockdown from 5 am to 7 pm daily from September 1 .
