Imphal, November 26 2009:
President of India conferred Grass-root Technology Invention awards to two persons from the state, Kshetrimayum Nicolson and Monohormayum Manihar Sharma recognizing their achievement in field of new technology invention.
The national awards conferred as part of encouragement to the persons inventing new technology were conferred to Nicolson for his invention of 'electric shock proof converter' and Manihar for inventing 'automatic pump operator'.
President, Pratiba Singh Patel conferred the award on November 18 last in New Delhi in a function organized by the National Innovation Foundation that distributed 5th national grass-root technological innovation and traditional knowledge award 2009 .
Nicolson, who was behind the invention of electric shock converter, hails from Wangkhei Koijam Leikai of Imphal East district.
He invented the technology of shock free when touch to the naked wire flowing electric current.
Manihar's new technology related with pumping of water from an overhead tank connecting with ground reservoir automatically.
In an interaction session held at the conference hall of the Hueiyen Lanpao daily, electronic mechanic, Nicolson said that from his early childhood he has been very interested with the electronic devises.
He used to observe such devises brought down by his father, Indrajit who an electrician is working at RIMS for repairing at home.
He took seriously to her father's cautions of electric shock when he observed the electronic items using current and tough him about the mechanisms of the electronic items.
In the later stage of his life, he opened an electronic repairing shop at Uripok.
In an instant an inverter, he repaired was broke by a youth with a complaint of shock when touch by his father in front of his shop.
Since then he started investing his knowledge to produce an electric shock proof devise, he recalled.
Manihar who produced automatic water pumping machine said that his technology related with pumping up water from ground tank to an overhead tank automatically by connecting by pipe with the devise.
